The Special Investigations Unit has been called in after an arrest in Lakeshore over the weekend.

On Saturday, just after 8pm, Lakeshore OPP attempted to arrest a 22-year-old man at a residence on Second Street in Belle River for what police say was a Criminal Code investigation.

While officers attempted to arrest the man, police say he became uncooperative and fled on foot. He was arrested a short distance away and taken into custody.

Police say the accused complained of injuries and was transported to an area hospital, treated for an injury and released. He faces several charges.

The OPP contacted the province’s Special Investigations Unit which is investigating.
