Riverdale in East Windsor as seen from Google Maps

Windsor Firefighters battled a stubborn fire in east Windsor early Wednesday morning.

Crews were called to the single family house located at 516 Riverdale just after 1:30am and found fire extending from the basement all the way to the second story roof.

Damage was extensive when arriving crews entered the house, with stairways both to the basement and second floor suffering significant fire damage.  Crews were pulled out of the home and fought the fire from the outside only.

It took multiple crews from most city stations close to two hours to bring the blaze under control.

There was no one home at the time of the fire, and the cause remains under investigation.

The fire caused $350,000 in damage.
