Police have released more information into an assault investigation that resulted in a standoff on April 2nd.

Police say that just after 9am they received a call regarding a female walking into traffic, bleeding from her head, in the area of Wyandotte Street East and Pierre Avenue. A male was following her but had left the area and returned to a residence in the 600 block of Pierre Avenue.

Police and EMS located the victim in the area of Wyandotte Street East and Marion Avenue. She was transported from this location by ambulance to hospital with non life threatening injuries. She sustained a laceration to her head that required several staples to close. She also had bruising and swelling to her ear and forearm.

Police say that information was learned that the victim was assaulted in a unit of a duplex in the 600 block of Pierre Avenue.

Members of the Windsor Police Emergency Services Unit attended the scene and contained the area. Contact was made with the suspect and he was arrested without incident.

Police say that the 32-year-old victim, attended the duplex to see the suspect, who was in the duplex visiting with a relative. After knocking on the door, the suspect pulled the victim into the duplex and assaulted her. Her hair was pulled and she was punched in the head several times. The suspect was blocking the door to the apartment during the assault preventing the victim from escaping. She eventually was able to exit the unit and ran towards Wyandotte Street East.

Gerald Maxwell Halliday, 34 years of age is charged with assault cause bodily harm and forcible confinement.
