Police have taken a suspect into custody following a lock down at Walkerville Collegiate.

Walkerville was under lock down between 10:20am and noon while heavily armed tactical officers conducted a search of the building.

Students and officers streamed out of the school around noon after an all clear was given.

Police say the suspect was involved in making threats.

Students leaving the building told windsoriteDOTca that a fellow student had tweeted he would shoot up the school.

Public school board spokesperson Scott Scantlebury says students were well prepared for this type of situation. “We perform emergency drills a couple times each year for just this type of event and it is encouraging to know that they are getting it.”

Scantlebury says students and staff executed the lockdown perfectly.

Police say the suspect was arrested at a home in the city and not at the school.
