Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following an incident in Wallaceburg last night.

Police say that around 8:10pm they were called to a report of a man who appeared emotionally distraught on Dufferin Avenue. Officers located the man and attempted to verbally calm him down. The man became very agitated, clenched his fists and jaw and took a swing at one of the officers. The strike was blocked and the man was taken into custody.

The 24-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with assaulting a peace officer.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
