Windsor Family Credit Union announced the recipients of the 2014 Community Donations Fund on Tuesday.   The  fund is dedicated to assisting community organizations in delivering needed programs and projects for the Windsor and Essex County region.

A total of $25,000 in funds was handed out to 20 organizations from across Windsor and Essex County. The organizations deliver a wide range of programs and represent a cross-section of community groups and agencies from the region.

“We are here today to recognize the efforts of organizations in our community that help make our community a better place,” said Martin J. Komsa, WFCU President and Chief Executive Officer. “Giving back to our community is not just a philosophy at WFCU but an integral part of who we are,” explained Komsa.

Recipients of the 2014 Community Donations Fund include, A Book of My Own, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Windsor-Essex, Canada South Science City, Essex County Diversion Program, Family Respite Services Windsor Essex, Forgotten Harvest Canada, Ford City Residents in Action, House of Sophrosyne, John McGivney Children’s Centre, LaSalle Spirit Sports Club, Southwestern Ontario Gleaners, Special Olympics Windsor, Sports Fest Windsor, Sun Parlour Players Community Theatre, The Hospice of Windsor & Essex County Inc., W.O.W – Solidarity Tower Co-operative, Windsor & Essex County Crime Stoppers, Windsor Essex Children’s Aid Foundation, Windsor Essex Therapeutic Riding Association, Windsor Goodfellows.
