Swimming To End At Windsor Water World

There will be no more swimming at Windsor Water World by the end of the month after late Monday night, Windsor City Council voted to end all aquatic activities at the pool.
Jan Wilson, Executive Director of Recreation and Culture for the city says that participation rates have dropped significantly, especially for preschool swims since the new Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre opened.
The city says that on average there are 3 participants for daily preschool swims, for nine days there were no swimmers and weekends average 13 swimmers. For public swims, the attendance has dropped from an average of 65 per swim session between January 3rd to 5th to an average of 19 per session the week of February 28th to March 2nd.
As well, the cost of providing lifeguards to Water World since January 1st has been $15,229.37 while revenue for the swims has been $3,822.94.
