A rap video released online Sunday about Windsor is going viral on a local scale and getting a lot of attention for its mostly positive vibes about the city.

“I used to cruise the west end with my best friend, it wasn’t such a boarded up mess then,” is one of the lyrics by artist Icky Eric that mixes criticism about certain aspects of Windsor life with uplifting vocals, melody and a chant to “rep Rose City”.

The music video mentions landmarks and other things only local people would understand before returning to a chorus featuring a hand sign resembling a ‘W’ for Windsor.

The song, which was written, recorded and produced by local performer Icky Eric, was shot as a music video by AJ Jimenez of SVN29 Productions.

Early Monday the video had 2000 views on YouTube and its popularity grew to just over 3500 as of 7pm.
