Police are warning the public after a string of break-ins at homes and businesses.

Officials say there have been around 30 break-ins since January 2nd that involved the theft of copper.

Suspects are said to target vacant homes with for sale signs and the majority of break-ins have taken place overnight. Suspects gain entry and attend basements were they remove exposed copper pipes.

Police say homeowners are often left with thousands of dollars worth of damages including water damage caused by flooded basements.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Windsor Police Target Base Unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 4350 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS).
