A 35-year-old Chatham-Kent man was injured after an ATV crash Saturday afternoon.

Police say that just after 1pm, the lone male was east bound Heritage Line approaching Highway 40. The driver stopped for the stop sign and then travelled across the highway and continued east bound Heritage Line when he lost control and ended up in the east side ditch off of Heritage Line.

The driver landed on the ice and ATV followed behind and landed on his back.

Police say that he was conscious and alert and was taken to Sydenham District Hospital for assessment, and then was transported to Hotel Dieu Hospital for surgery.

He sustained two broken ribs and some internal bleeding.
