Windsor Police are investigating after a man was captured stealing mail on video from an east end apartment building.

Surveillance video from around 6:30pm on December 26th shows the suspect entering the building in the 6500 block of Thornberry Crescent and going directly to the mail room.

In the video the suspect attempted to pry open the mail room door using different tools. He removed his hat and then used a tool to enter the security doors of the building.

He then went over to the mail slots and attempted to open them before walking over and taking a few pieces of mail that were left on a lobby table.

Later he he returned to the mail room door and tried to force the door before leaving the building.

Canada Post later notified building staff that they could not access the mail room because the door and lock had been tampered with.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 30’s, around 6 feet tall with a large build and a shaved head. He was wearing a white coat, blue hoody, baggy black pants and was carrying a black gym bag.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4305 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS).
