A woman coming home from the pharmacy was robbed suddenly, her friend gave chase, and it was caught on camera.

Police say the victim was dropped off by a friend at her house in the 900 block of Elsmere on Monday around 9am, and while heading into the home, was approached by a suspect who asked to use her cellphone.

The woman had just come from a pharmacy and had a bag of prescription narcotics in her backpack.

Police say the suspect grabbed the backpack and broke the zipper open before grabbing the prescription bag and running off.

The suspect ran north on Elsmere and the woman’s friend who was driving the vehicle that dropped her off, witnessed the altercation and gave chase on foot.

The witness grabbed at the suspect but slipped and fell.

Police say the witness noticed a white panel in the area driving around. Police aren’t sure if the van is involved in the incident.

The suspect is described as a white male, 6’7″ tall with a skinny build. He was around 175lbs, was in his mid 20’s to early 30’s and was clean shaven with short hair. The suspect was wearing a beige jacket, a grey hoodie with the hood up, and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4305 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS).
