A head on collision we reported on last night has resulted in a drunk driving charge and injuries to another driver.

Emergency personnel were called to the top of the Ouellette overpass between Eugenie and Tecumseh just after 10pm.

Police say a white Ford Fusion was traveling South on Ouellette Avenue in the wrong (Northbound) lanes. The vehicle struck a Northbound Chrysler Neon head-on.

The driver of the Ford Fusion was transported to hospital by ambulance.

Officers could smell alcohol coming from her mouth.

The 26 year old driver of the Neon was trapped and Windsor Fire had to extricate her from her vehicle.

Firefighters used the jaws of life to free her and she was taken by EMS to hospital.

At hospital the driver of the Ford Fusion was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm. She refused to provide a sample of her blood for analysis and is also charged with Failure/Refusal to Provide a Blood Sample.

The 44 year old accused female of Maidstone, was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of February 11th.

The accused suffered 2 broken ribs in the collision.

The driver of the Chrysler Neon sustained a dislocated hip that required surgery to remedy.
