A 46-year-old man from Tecumseh is charged after a crash on the EC Row expressway at Dominion Boulevard  Monday evening.

Police say that a 2014 GMC pick up truck left the roadway and struck sand barrels at a concrete pillar for the pedestrian overpass located there. EMS treated the driver of the vehicle at the scene for his injuries, he refused to go to hospital for further evaluation.

Officers spoke with the driver and say that they determined that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired due to prior consumption of alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was subjected to a breath test.

The driver is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and exceed 80 milligrams blood alcohol content.

He was later released on a promise to appear with a pending court date of January 21st, 2014

Westbound EC Row had to be closed down for over two hours after the accident.
