With a second round of snow hitting us in less then a week, many sidewalks in the city still have not been cleared.

While many home and business owners think the city is responsible for clearing away the snow from the city sidewalks, this is not the case.

The City of Windsor has a snow removal bylaw which requires the owners and/or tenants to remove snow or ice in front of their property within 12 hours after a snowfall.  Owners or tenants of commercial properties have 4 hours following the snowfall or formation of ice.

The city does issue orders and even fines for those who fail to obey the bylaw.  Windsorites are encouraged to call 311 and report uncleared sidewalks.

City of Windsor crews do clear snow from overpasses, underpasses, and sidewalks on city owned land.  A detailed map can be found at this link here.
