Casting Call For Korda’s Newest Play, The Beaver Den

Korda Artistic Productions will be holding open auditions for their 2014 production of The Beaver Den.

This new Canadian musical is set in Northern Canada 1999, where a cast of young Canadian actors are trying to keep their outdated kid’s TV show alive. They must prevent a corporate takeover of their production, all the while being perfectly polite like good Canadian kids should be.

Actors interested in auditioning must have the ability to sing and learn movement. Those auditioning must have a song, preferably from a musical, prepared. They will also be asked to do a cold reading from the script. Sides from the script will be provided.

Available Characters:

TOM – Leading character. Recent theatre school graduate who wants to be the next great Canadian Star- determined, focused, intense.

JOHNNY – American children’s TV actor (like Steve from “Blues Clues”). “Drug”Addict. Bitter, overly confident, seems like he’s hiding something.

DEREK – Flamboyant, secretly gay but only shows his gay side though his puppet, Beavy. He is secretly in love with Johnny. *Strong comedic role.*

JEREMY – “Little boy” who is the last viewer left of “The Beaver Den.” (Plays multiple characters).

PAUL – One of the first cast members involved on “The Beaver Den” when it first started. (30-45 years old; Plays multiple characters).

Audition dates are January 11th and 12th 2014 from 4pm to 6pm at the The KordaZone Theatre, located at 2520 Seminole Street. Open for singers, actors and dancers ages 16 and up.

The show hits the stage in May.
