A Windsor Police dog is getting credit for taking down a suspected thief this morning.

Around 8am, police spotted a 29-year-old man near Wyandotte and Church they say was wanted for theft.

When officers approached, police say the man shouted “I’m not stopping” and ran away.

Minutes later, a K9 unit located the suspect between houses in the 500 block of Church Street.

Police say the suspect ignored their requests for him to stop running, and instead took off in an alley in the 400 block of Karl Place.

Police deployed a K9 and the suspect was taken down.

The suspect was arrested and charged with theft and breach of probation.

He suffered two puncture wounds in his buttocks from the police dog.
