A man has been arrested after police say he threatened to kill two children if they didn’t steal from stores as instructed.

A mother of two children told police that while shopping at Devonshire Mall with her children, she ran into an in law of hers. The in law offered to take her children for dinner and she agreed to allow her 12 and 14 year old to go with him.

Police say the man took the children to several retail stores on Howard Avenue and Walker Road and allegedly told the children to take items out of stores without paying for the merchandise.

Police say the man allegedly told the children that if they did not listen to him that they would not see their mother again and that he would kill them.

Around $800 in merchandise was allegedly taken from stores.

A 23-year-old Windsor man is charged with 2 counts of Extortion, 3 counts of Utter Death Threats, 3 counts of Theft Under $5000.00 and 3 counts of Possession Under $5000.00
