Queen’s Line & Bloomfield Road as seen on Google maps

Chatham-Kent police say that one person has died in collision on Queens Line west of Bloomfield Road in Chatham.

Police say that a pick-up truck and a tractor-trailer collided, head-on, and the two vehicles came to rest off the roadway. The pick-up truck had left its’ lane and was travelling westbound, in the eastbound lane of the roadway, at the time of the collision. The pick-up truck caught fire and although passers-by stopped to assist they were unable to free the driver from the truck.

The 37-year-old male driver of the truck from Chatham-Kent, was pronounced dead at the scene by a coroner. His name will not be released by police as requested by his family.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to Public General Hospital, in Chatham, by ambulance, and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police are looking for additional witnesses, and they ask them to contact the investigating officer, Constable Todd Trahan at 519-355-1092.
