UPDATE: A 36 year old woman from Lakeshore was charged with failing to report a motor vehicle collision and fail to remain under the Highway Traffic Act after police received an anonymous tip which lead to the identity of the driver involved in this hit and run collision.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Belle River on Saturday night.

Police say it was just after 8:30pm that they were called to an accident where they found that someone drove into the door of a grey 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier that was parked on Summer Street.

A witness described the suspect vehicle as a compact type dark coloured vehicle, possibly a two door GM product that struck the front driver’s door of the vehicle and fled away at a high rate of speed.

Police say that there was an unknown amount of damage. Police are requesting any witnesses to contact Lakeshore OPP, 519-728-1810 or Crime Stoppers 519-258-TIPS.
