If you use tokens to cross at the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, take note that they will be extinct come the new year.
Tunnel officials say they will no longer accept tokens at toll booths after December 31st, 2013.
If you have excess tokens that you don’t anticipate using before the deadline, the Tunnel says you can collect all of your leftover tokens and bring them in to exchange for equal value on a NEXPRESS Toll Card or NEXPRESS Windshield Sticker.
Tokens can be exchanged from 8:30am to 4:30pm from Monday to Friday at the Detroit Plaza’s Token Trade-In Center.
