The Beer Store on Tecumseh Road East as seen on Google Streetview.

Three people have been arrested and charged after an early morning beer robbery in East Windsor, Monday.

Police say that around 1:30 am three to four people were seen loading beer into a white pickup truck at the Beer Store in the 8150 block of Tecumseh Road East.

When police arrived, the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed northbound on Lauzon Road.

Officers soon spotted the suspect vehicle stopped northbound on Virginia at Wyandotte Street East. When officers activated their lights and sirens, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, and fled eastbound on Wyandotte Street East, striking the police cruiser as it turned.

A short pursuit ensued, but police say it was quickly terminated for safety reasons. The police cruiser sustained minor damage and there were no injuries.

A short time later, police were called to a vehicle fire on Russell Street in west Windsor.

Police said that this was the vehicle used in the robbery and that it had been stolen earlier in the evening.

While investigating the break and enter, police received information about a possible suspect and his location. Police went to the area of Bloomfield and Prince and located two males walking westbound on Bloomfield. The two were identified as being two of the persons involved in the break in and were arrested.

Further information led officers to an apartment unit located in the 3400 block of Peter Street.

Officers knocked at the door and a male and female were arrested without incident. The male was identified as one of the suspects, and the female was later released with no charges.

Two search warrants were subsequently executed at residences within the City of Windsor. One was executed at the apartment unit in the 3400 block of Peter Street and the other was at a residence in the 3500 block of Bloomfield. Evidence was gathered from both residences and the majority of the stolen goods were recovered.

Investigation revealed the suspects were also involved in a commercial break and enter to a Petro Canada gas bar in the 100 block of King Street West in Harrow which occurred late Sunday night, prior to the break and enter at The Beer Store.

Stolen items included lottery tickets, cigarettes and energy drinks.

Two 19-year-old males and one 18-year-old male have been arrested and face break and enter charges along with vehicle-related charges.

The Beer Store sustained minor damage to the front doors and 14 cases of beer were stolen.
