The RCMP has seized more cartons of illegal cigarettes following yesterday’s bust.

RCMP used a search warrant this past Wednesday and seized 215 cartons of illegal smokes and a large quantity of cash from a west-end convenience store.

28-year-old Rivon Dali and 22-year-old Lina Daly have been charged.

“Contraband tobacco increases the tax burden on Canadians through lost tax revenues. Legitimate businesses suffer because they cannot compete with the low cost of illegal cigarettes” stated Sgt. Dave Watts of the Windsor Detachment.

The accused in the matter are scheduled to appear in Windsor Provincial court on December 9th.

If you have information about the sale and distribution of illegal tobacco products or any other criminal activity you are asked to contact your local police department or the nearest RCMP detachment at 519-967-4353 ext (255) or 1-800-387-0020, or you can anonymously supply the information to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)
