Shortly after 10pm Monday night, Chatham-Kent police say that they responded to a residence on Talbot Trail in regards to a domestic disturbance.

Police say that a woman reported that the man flicked a lit cigarette at her during a verbal argument and that he had broken all her sentimental china.

Through investigation, the woman reported previous incidents of domestic violence.

Just before midnight, a 40-year-old Romney Township man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000 and two counts of assault.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The woman did not require medical attention.
