OPP in Belle River are investigating an armed robbery that took place outside the town’s Shoppers Drug Mart.

Police say the incident took place around 1:30pm this afternoon.

Two female employees of the drug store were taking a deposit to the bank when they were met outside the store by a male brandishing a knife. He grabbed the deposit bag from one of the women, and in doing so pushed the other the ground. Neither of the women were injured.

Police say the suspect then jumped into a black Mazda and fled the scene driving eastbound on Notre Dame Ave.

The suspect is described as 5’5”, early 20’s, dark hair, wearing a blue shirt and black pants and police say he got into a black Mazda, Ontario plates BMJX-556.

If anyone should happen to come across this vehicle, police are asking that it not be touched in any manner and to contact police immediately. Witnesses are asked to contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers, 519-258-TIPS.
