A 28-year-old Blenheim man is in police custody facing numerous charges after failing to stop for police this morning.

OPP say that around 11:30am Tuesday, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle at Oak Street and Erie Street South in Leamington. The vehicle immediately fled north on Erie Street into the downtown core. Police say that the pursuit was then terminated.

The vehicle then proceeded through the rural area outside Leamington where it struck a southbound vehicle at County Road 31 and County Road 18.

The vehicle then continued west on County Road 18, where it lost control and left the road. The driver got out and fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by police.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision at County Road 31 and County Road 18 was taken to the hospital with what police say are believed to be minor non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

He is facing charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, six charges of driving while disqualified and fail to stop at the scene of an accident.

Police say they would also like to speak a witness who was at the scene where the vehicle came to it stop and are asking the driver of a white Ford Pick-up to contact OPP at 519-326-1544 or 1-888-310-1122.
