A 22-year-old Ingersoll man is facing charges after the stolen vehicle he was driving was involved in a collision on Highway 401 today.

OPP say that at approximately 4pm this afternoon, a witness saw an eastbound 2005 Pontiac Wave strike the right guard rail at the Rochester Road overpass. The driver exited the vehicle and left the scene on foot.

Police were called and found that the vehicle had been reported stolen from a residence in Ingersoll on August 6th.

The OPP Emergency Response Team and the West Region Highway Enforcement Team arrived at the scene and within ten minutes and located a male walking through a bean field approximately 500 metres from the scene of the collision.

He was arrested and taken into custody.  He is charged with possession of stolen property, obstruct police and fail to remain.

He was released and will be appearing in court on August 28th.
