A 24-year-old Essex man is in police custody after he is alleged to have robbed a Harrow convenience store.

Police say that around 8pm Saturday evening, a lone male entered the Stop N Go at 80 King Street East in Harrow. He was brandishing an imitation handgun and demanded money from the store clerk. An undisclosed amount of Canadian currency was taken by the suspect who fled on foot. The clerk was not injured in the incident.

The Essex County Crime Unit, the Emergency Response Team, the West Region Forensic Identification Unit as well as K-9 were called in to assist. Video surveillance and efficient police work, assisted in identifying the suspect who was located and arrested a short time later, in Harrow, without incident.

24-year-old Craig Tehonchuk has been charged with robbery with a weapon, point firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.  He  is being held for a bail hearing.

The weapon, an air soft pistol was seized from the suspect at the time of his arrest.
