If you’re looking for some affordable, family-friendly entertainment alternatives, then a recently opened business just outside of Windsor may be the place for you.

Mini Golf and a Movie recently opened at the site of the now closed Tecumseh Roadhouse on County Road 42. The Roadhouse was closed after it suffered a fire earlier this year.

Kelly Ouellette says that the idea actually was first talked about before the fire occurred. Both Ouellette and her partner Carey MacEachern started Party Putt Golf Systems, where they rent, sell and operate portable miniature golf systems and putting greens in April.

While in the planning stage for their new venture they met with Mark Boscariol, who owns The Tecumseh Roadhouse, to discuss the benefits of adding a Mini Golf Course to his property.

Ouellette says “Mark had already installed a zip line and some play equipment in an attempt to make his restaurant more of a family destination. In the midst of our discussions there was a fire at the property and plans fell by the wayside. A few weeks ago we were brainstorming ideas – our rental program is working well and we were trying to think of a restaurant with enough property to accommodate a permanent Mini Golf Course. We were discussing The Tecumseh Roadhouse and we reached out to Mark to see what was happening with his property.”

Ouellette says that she had worked with Boscariol at an event in 2010 where they held an outdoor showing of The Princess Bride downtown on Chatham Street which succeeded in bringing approximately 300 people out for an evening of entertainment.

She says that through discussions between the three to bring affordable family fun to the region, Mini Golf and a Movie was born, with the goal of turning The Tecumseh Roadhouse property into a family friendly entertainment destination where people come to play and interact together.

Currently the fun runs three days a week on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (weather permitting). The Mini Golf Course opens at 4pm, and movies begin as soon as it is dark enough, which is currently around 9:30pm. This time will change as it begins to get dark earlier. There are plans to expand days of operation as interest grows.

Movies will be shown on the east side of the building which has been painted with a special reflective paint for this purpose. There is seating for approximately 150 people on folding chairs. Movie goers can also bring their own chairs and blankets. Movies will vary each week.

Regular cost to play the Mini Golf Course is $5 for all ages. This includes unlimited rounds of play. Movies are also be $5. Hot dogs, burgers, sausages, juice, pop, water, chips, soft ice cream, popcorn and candy will be sold and the prices vary between $1 sand $5.

This Thursday there is no charge for the movie and the mini golf is 2 for 1.

In addition to the Mini Golf and Movie, the property also has a Zip Line for kids to enjoy. Future plans include adding several glow in the dark games for kids including bowling and ring toss for little ones. They also plan to host birthday parties and fundraisers and are working on package pricing.

Event details are available on their Facebook page found here under Events.
