Chatham-Kent Police are investigating a fatal dirt bike crash.

At approximately 3:16pm yesterday afternoon, emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision in Dover Township.

Chatham Police say 21-year-old Kyle Lee James of Grande Pointe was riding his dirt bike with three other family members along a field when they came upon a 13m wide water filled ditch on Bear Line Road north of Mud Creek Line. The man went airborne, clearing the water portion of the ditch, however collided with the side of the ditch bank causing him and the bike to flip up into the field.

The man sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance – Sydenham Campus. Medical personnel attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful and he was later pronounced dead.
