Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex is kicking off their first annual Stud-a-Thon this Wednesday.

Habitat officials say that after taking 2012 off from building in order to reorganize the ReStore and build capacity, Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex is excited to begin the 2013 build season.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer businesses, groups, organizations and individuals an opportunity to sponsor a stud that will be used in the construction of our first 2013 Habitat build project,” states Ed Link, Board Chair, Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex. “Studs can be decorated with drawings or messages to the pending Habitat Homeowners – it is really a way to forever be a part of this build,” Link adds.

Studs can be sponsored for $100 each. The studs will be used to construct the Habitat Build Project located at 784 Richmond Street in Amherstburg. Once the home is framed, sponsors will be invited to attend a “Stud Finder” party – where they will have the opportunity to locate their stud!

Stud sponsors will be listed on the Humanity Windsor-Essex website, and will be featured on the Humanity Windsor-Essex Facebook fan page. A photo of the sponsor with their stud will also be tweeted out.

“The project on Richmond is our first ever build in the beautiful, historic town of Amherstburg,” says Pamela Breault, Operations Manager, Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex. “The Stud-a-Thon is not only a way to raise funds for the project, but a way to really engage the community in the build itself,” adds Breault.

If you are interested in sponsoring a Stud, a Build Team or making a donation toward the build, you can contact 519-969-3762 ext. 29.

The official kick off is at 11am Wednesday at the Habitat ReStore located at 3064 Devon Drive.
