The grandmother of 4 young children left unattended in a car at local bar’s parking lot has been arrested and charged.

The additional charges come as result of the investigation, police say.

Amherstburg Police arrested 36-year-old Jennifer North who they say abandoned her kids in a car to go drinking and dancing. Police now allege that the grandmother, 64-year-old Patricia North, was drinking and partying with her daughter inside the bar while her four grandchildren were left to sit in a car.

The incident took place during the late hours of Saturday July 6th and early morning hours of July 7th. Police say the accused attended Shooters Road House located at 17 Sandwich Street North in Amherstburg.

A concerned citizen noticed the children, between the ages of 2 and 9, in the car alone and called police.

Both Jennifer and Patricia North were each charged with 4 counts of Abandoning a Child under the Criminal Code of Canada.
