June is designated as Seniors’ Month, and to celebrate, Transit Windsor, along with the Seniors’ Advisory Committee of the City of Windsor, are offering a special discount to seniors.
From June 2nd to 8th, seniors may ride any city bus for just a loonie, with the exception of the tunnel bus.
Senior fare applies to anyone 60 years and over. Seniors must show valid ID upon paying their fare, if requested by the driver.
Additionally, seniors may ask for a transfer slip after paying the discounted fare; which allows another two hours of travel for just a dollar.
Franklin Duralia, Senior’s Advisory Committee and non-voting member of the Transit Windsor Board of Directors said, “The number of seniors is rising fast as more “baby boomers” enter their late sixties. This means more people with mobility-related issues that can limit their participation in society. Their quality of life, and the strength of the communities they live in, will depend on their ability to reach work, volunteering, education, health care, shopping and recreation opportunities. It is in the public interest to keep these citizens active and engaged”.
