Police in Chatham-Kent arrested a youth following a dispute and threats over social media.

Police say that on Tuesday, the male youth became involved in a verbal argument with a man known to him. Then, following the argument, the youth began sending texts and Facebook messages to people known to both of them threatening to cause damage to the man’s place of employment.

On Wednesday, the man became concerned about the threatening messages and contacted police.

Around 1:30pm police located the youth at his residence and he was arrested.

The 17-year-old Chatham youth has been charged with uttering threats to damage property. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
