Chatham-Kent police are warning about a new type of phone scam in the area.

Police say that on Tuesday a woman received a call from a man stating that she had won $8,000 through a Sweepstakes. The man explained to the woman that in order for her to collect her winnings, she would have to transfer money to an account in Minneapolis and that he would also require her banking information.

The woman did not provide the man with any information and called police immediately.
