Windsor Police have arrested a man after Police say one of their officers witnessed him breaking into a vehicle downtown.

On Tuesday June 11th just before midnight, officers on routine patrol were waiting for the light at University Avenue and Victoria to turn green when they reportedly heard the sound of breaking glass.

Police say a man was observed leaning into a parked Dodge van in a nearby parking lot. The man was then observed removing a backpack from the van before fleeing on a bike.

Officers stopped the man at the intersection of Park Street and Bruce Avenue. Other property stolen from another vehicle was also found in his possession.

John Redmile, 46 years of age of Windsor, is charged with Mischief Under $5000, Theft Under $5000, 2 counts of Possession of Stolen Property under $5000.
