Windsor Police are currently investigation a four vehicle accident that was caused by a stolen vehicle.

The crash took place just after 9:30pm this evening at Twin Oaks Drive and Lauzon Parkway.

Police say that a Ford Windstar — which was reported stolen from Windsor on Monday — was being pursed by the OPP along the 401 ten minutes before the crash occurred.

Windsor Police Staff Sergent Steve Bodri says the OPP called off the pursuit after the vehicle turned north on Manning Road from the 401. It continued driving at high-speed despite having driven over a spike belt laid down on the 401 by the OPP.

The Windstar struck three other vehicles at Lauzon and Twin Oaks Drive.

Police say two occupants from the Windstar fled from the scene of the crash on foot.

The K-9 Unit was called in to track the suspects who are believed to be heading north from the crash toward Forest Glade area.

Police say that the van was not being pursued at the time of this collision. Injuries are minor, but police say damage is extensive.

The police did all they could while the vehicle was on the 401, a more open area. they called off the chase as soon as the van left the 401. It’s not their fault the thieves kept driving insane and caused an accident. I hope everyone involved is ok and the thieves are caught.
