Chatham-Kent police have arrested a Wallaceburg woman after she allegedly stole a donation box from a Wallaceburg business.

Police say that around 7pm Saturday, the woman entered a business on Dufferin Avenue to place a food order. While the employee was distracted, the woman stole a donation box for Mother’s Against Drunk Driving containing an unknown amount of money.

The woman hid the box inside her coat and fled the area on foot.

Police attended the area but failed to locate the woman, and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Then on Thursday, another warrant was issued for the woman’s arrest as she breached her probation order.

Around 4:30pm yesterday afternoon, officers located the woman on Minnie Street in Wallaceburg and she was arrested.

She was charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and breach of probation.

She was released with conditions pending a future court date.
