UPDATE – May 6th:

Windsor Police have charged 48-year-old Vincent Herlehy with attempted murder.

Police say they were notified of the stabbing when an officer on patrol around 10pm on Saturday night was alerted by a 13-year-old boy that a male responsible for stabbing someone was fleeing the scene southbound on a bicycle.

The officer broadcast the information and caught up with the male and found him to have a cut to his hands. Additional officers went to the residence in the 800 block of campbell Avenue and found a 37-year-old woman suffering from several stab wounds to her abdomen. The 48 year old male was placed under arrest for Attempted Murder.

Investigation has revealed that the victim was visiting a friend’s house and was involved in verbal altercation with a neighbour. The victim went to the neighbour’s house and was arguing with him. At some point she was pushed off the porch and onto the sidewalk. The suspect then stabbed the victim several times. A 13-year-old boy, residing in the home that the victim was visiting, heard the altercation and went outside. He pulled the suspect off of the victim. The suspect then fled the area.

A K9 Unit attended the scene and located a bloodied kitchen knife in the 900 block of Campbell Avenue.

The victim was transported to hospital by ambulance. She suffered 6 stab wounds in the abdomen, hip, buttock, and back. Her injuries are considered serious but not life threatening.

Windsor Police Staff Sergeant Steve Bodri is describing a stabbing on Campbell as a “chaotic scene” which sent a 47-year-old woman to hospital with serious wounds.

Officers arrived at 822 Campbell around 10pm Saturday night and discovered a woman who had received a number of stab wounds. The woman was taken to hospital in serious condition.

Bodri says police were able to apprehend a male suspect after a brief foot chase. He was also injured during the incident and was taken to hospital to be assessed for his injuries before being brought to police headquarters. The weapon was recovered near the scene.

Police say it’s believed a neighbour dispute was the cause for this incident however police are interviewing a number of people in order to determine what transpired prior to the stabbing.
