Windsor firefighters battled an overnight fire in the 800 block of Assumption Street near Downtown Windsor.

Crews were called to 859 Assumption around 2:30am and found heavy smoke and flames coming from a vacant house.

After a quick search of the building, firefighters determined nobody was home and flames grew more intense. Crews set up to battle the fire from the exterior and soon the roof collapsed after significant fire damage.

Officials say the fire started on the back porch exterior, but cause is undetermined. Damage is listed at $70,000.

There were no injuries.
