On Sunday, May 5th at approximately 7:45 pm, Leamington OPP were called to Road 4 in Leamington, just west of Road 12 for a report of a male on a bike who had been struck by a vehicle that had then left the scene.

Officers arrived to find a 48 year old Leamington man seriously injured lying on the side of the road. EMS arrived and transported the male to Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

A short while later, a male phoned police and returned to the scene where he was arrested.

Matthew Quiring, age 24, also of Leamington, has been charged with Impaired Driving, Exceed 80 mgs of Blood Alcohol Content and Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident Causing Bodily Harm. He will appear in a Leamington court on May 30th, 2013.

Police are asking anyone who may have information pertaining to this investigation, to contact Leamington OPP at 519-326-2544.
