A group of public grade schools in East Windsor could see some changes, if recommendations by the Greater Essex County District School Board’s accommodation review committee get final approval.

The review includes Victoria Public School, DM Eagle, AV Graham and Tecumseh Vista.

Currently three schools do not provide all grades in the elementary system. Victoria School only has grades JK to grade 3, DM Eagle School has grades JK to grade 6 and AV Graham has grades 4 to 8.

The committee has recommended the closure Victoria Public School in 2014 and transition students to AV Graham School, creating a JK to grade 8 school.

They also recommend that the board pursues capital funding from the Ministry of Education for the construction of a new school in the North Shore and if approved, they will close DM Eagle. Those students will be transitioned to the new dual track JK to 8 grade school.

Also recommended was to adjust Tecumseh Vista’s French Immersion western boundary to west of Banwell Road, North of E.C. Row and transition those affected students to attend a dual track program at Forest Glade School for September 2014.

After public discussions on the proposed recommendations, the committee will be preparing a report to be presented to Administration.   Then based on the Committee’s final recommendations,  school board administration will form recommendations that will be presented to Trustees for final approval at a later date.
