Essex OPP are investigating reports of copper wire thefts from hydro poles that service the Comber wind farm in Essex County.

OPP say that in total, 43 sites have been targeted and copper ground wires have been stolen from the hydro poles, totaling $10,000.

Police say the suspects are climbing as high as 25 feet, in remote areas, to remove the copper from the poles. Judging by the height of the cuts, police are assuming that the suspects are travelling in a pick-up truck along with an extension ladder that can be extended from the bed of the truck.

If you have information with regards to these thefts, you are asked to contact Detective Constable Ian Stibbard at the Essex County OPP Crime Unit at 519-723-2491.

Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2000.
