Overcoming diverse challenges, many individuals are set to showcase their strength and fashion for a good cause.

Janice has survived a battle with breast cancer and is excited for a new wardrobe after her reconstructive surgery next month. Jace, who suffers from cerebral palsy, wants people to know that the illness isn’t stopping her from living out a dream. Now an owner of his own auto shop, John is proud of his battle towards good health since being injured in an explosion over twenty-eight years ago.

What do these people have in common?

They’re among the many who will be featured at In Honour Of The Ones We Love’s 2nd Annual Colours Of Courage fashion show & dinner. Taking place on Friday, May 3rd, at the Ciociaro Club, proceeds will go towards the Kids Beating Cancer Honourable Little Ninjas program — for young patients fighting cancer, chronic life threatening illnesses and other disabilities.

Opening at 5:30pm, appetizers will be available along with Wine tasting by Muscedere and Beer Sampling from Walkerville Brewery. Other food by Ciao, El Mayor, Executive Class Catering, Penalty Box, Mezzo, Lorelei’s, Spago, Taza, Thanasis, and Take 5 will be served with more restaurants to be announced along the way.

Beyond the wide assortment of food, the night’s entertainment will also grab people’s attention. MC’s Jeff Galad (Windsor Star) and Alana Hadadean (CBC Windsor News) will be on hand all night but aren’t the only well-known media personalities who will be in attendance. Special guest, CTV Windsor’s multi-talented Christie Bezaire, will open the fashion segment with an aerial acrobatic performance.

From there, over 75 models will show off hundreds of clothing items from 12 retailers: The Bay,  Boathouse, The Children’s Place, The Clothing Bar, His & Hers Wear and Bridal, Laurangela Boutique, Linda’s Fashion & Accessories, Monty Formal Wear, P.R.A.Y. Fitness & Lifestyle Boutique, Stars Menswear, Aeropostale and Young Fabulous. Given the variety, there will be something for everyone.

Despite this range, there’s more to the event than just a simple fashion show however.

“Amongst the models of all ages and sizes, a very special group of COURAGEOUS individuals will be featured,” says the event’s press release. “Many of the children from the Little Ninjas class have chosen to participate as well as a number of cancer survivors, fighters and those who have overcome health adversities. Windsor’s finest firefighters will also be in attendance as special escorts all night.”

Managed by Alyssia Vozza and Melissa Muscedere, fashion show choreography has also been provided by Michelle Lam and Sheila Antonelli.

For those looking to do some shopping, a vendors aisle will feature goods from several retailers. These include Fashionista Fashion Accessories, In Honour Bracelets, P.R.A.Y. Fitness & Lifestyle Boutique, Stella & Dot and Young Fabulous. You can also enter a raffle for a chance to win a five-hour trolley charter including stops at one brewery and two wineries or a pair of Gucci sunglasses.  tickets are $10 or $20 for three — included with each is a butterfly glow stick that will be used for the show’s courageous models scene.

Another aspect of the items for sale is the mystery gift table. Selling for $20 each, those interested will receive a butterfly pouch with a number that corresponds to a limited-quantity mystery gift. Each item is valued at more than $25 with the chance to receive a larger-valued gift. Although it will be a surprise, gift cards and accessories will be among the array of goodies people will have a chance of receiving.

In Honour Of The Ones We Love has helped those with cancer and life-threatening illnesses for over 16-years. Through raising funds and awareness, the organization continues to ensure patients have access to critical medical treatment with state of the art equipment and specialists here in Windsor. Aiming to make the “healthcare journey” as stress-free as possible for patients and their families, income generated from these events and raffles help the organization to continue its work.

Fashion show tickets are $65 each with tables of 10 filling the hall. To order yours or donate a gift, contact Kathy Vincent via phone at 519-966-2960.
