Just before 10pm police and fire were called to the Gino A. Marcus Centre on Drouillard after a car had reportedly struck a parked vehicle.

Police say that a 2013 Dodge Journey was parked on the roadway with the driver waiting for his son to finish swimming lessons, when he was sideswiped by a 2004 Jeep Cherokee.

The 32-year-old male driver was arrested at the scene, and was later released from police custody on a promise to appear in court.

He faces charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and exceeding the legal alcohol limit.

The 2013 Dodge Journey¬† sustained extensive damage to the driver’s side, and the 2004 Jeep Cherokee had extensive damage to the passenger side.

There was no injuries, and two the vehicles were towed from the scene.

Police report minor landscape damage and no damage to the building.
