churcHouse presents, The Twang & Slide Tour 2013 featuring Sean Ashby and Deanna Cartea this Saturday at Place Concorde, L’Oasis Room.

Last year Sean Ashby played six festivals including a sold out festival in Fernie, BC, as well as touring all over North America. As a solo artist Sean has three solo cd’s released and has played over a 100 live shows each year for the last four years in Canada and the US. He has also made several Television and Movie appearances including the Grammys twice, Conan O’Brian, Ellen Degeneres, SNL, David Lettermen and a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Centre (NBC) in 2008. In addition Sean is currently charting well on Americana radio format, as well as on the CBC with one song getting 1300 plays on CBC Radio 3.

In addition to his successful solo career Sean is well known for performing with Sarah McLachlan for 12 years (toured and recorded guitar on records selling over 10 million copies), as well as Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Blind Boys of Alabama NYC’s DMC of Run DMC and many other well-known artists Sean describes his live show as, “Rootsy music – some country, some Motown, some surf guitar, some slide guitar music and some high energy stuff”.

Deanna Cartea has a recent #2 single on the Canadian Roots Folk Charts, an Independent Music Award for “Alt Country song of the year, and a strong showing at Toronto’s Indie Week, Deanna continues on a fast and positive trajectory. Back in the beginning of the summer of 2012 Deanna Cartea released the album, “Open Road” and has put her heart and soul into getting it out there to the masses. Captivating vocals, haunting melodies, and thought-provoking lyrics describe the album from front to back.
