A 46-year-old Windsor man is facing a number of charges after an accident Tuesday night in the 2100 Block of Niagara.

Police say around 9pm, a resident in the area heard a loud crash outside. He went to investigate and saw that a 1992 Plymouth Voyager Van was lodged in between two trees on his property. The driver was revving the van trying to leave but could not, so he got out and started to walk away.

The resident followed the male for some distance all the while giving their location police. The male was subsequently arrested in the 2500 Block of Richmond Avenue.

Police say that before the van hit the two trees, it side-swiped a 2007 Pontiac Acclaim which sustained about $2,000 dollars damage.

The van was stolen out of London and is a write off.

The male was taken to hospital for a laceration he suffered as a result of the collision. He was given a breathalyzer test which he failed.

He is facing charges of impaired operation and exceeding the breathalyzer, possession of stolen property, failing to remain at the scene of and accident, and two counts of breaching his probation where one of his conditions was not to consume alcohol.
