Windsor Police are investigating an assault that took place just after 2am at 157 University Avenue West near Phog Lounge.

Police say that two 22-year-old males saw that a group of males had surrounded a lone male in the alley behind the bar and were about to assault him. The two men decided to intervene and help out the individual who was able to get away.

Police say that group of about six to nine males then decided to assault the two intervening men. Both sustained minor injuries and were taken to Hotel Dieu Hospital for treatment.

One male received a cut lower lip and Windsor Police say the second’s injuries were more serious and he had a broken nose and possibly a fractured orbital bone.

No arrests were made as the suspects fled the area and the descriptions provided by the victims were reportedly very vague.

If anyone witnessed this incident or has information regarding this incident they are urged to contact detectives or call Crime Stoppers.
