Windsor Police were called to the area of Hall and Wyandotte around 4:30am after receiving reports of man standing next to a car trying to break into it.

Police say that someone called out to the suspect who then casually walked away from the car. A search for the suspect began by police which lead them to the 7-11 just down the street, where they watched a male walk into the store who fit the description of the suspect.

Police went into the store and spoke to the suspect and being satisfied they had the individual responsible for the attempt theft they arrested the 26-year-old man from Windsor.

Police say the male was in possession of tools and they found tools he tried to discard in the bathroom of the store.

He has been charged with attempted theft, mischief to property and possession of break and entering tools.
