Tecumseh Road West as seen on Google Streetview

A 28-year-old Amherstburg woman was arrested this morning after her car took out a light pole and fire hydrant.

Just after 3am, police say that a 2008 BMW was westbound on Tecumseh Road and as approached the curve at Crawford the car went off the road, struck the pole and then ran over a fire hydrant.

A portion of the pole was left dangling by the wires across the roadway.   It took hydro crews several hours to repair the damage.

Police say that the car was totaled and total damage to the pole, fire hydrant and car is estimated at $50,000.

The woman was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
